Description

  • Capable of working in the field and in the office using the latest in robotic, GPS and laser scanning hardware and software.
  • Works as a member of a survey crew assisting the Crew Chief when performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public, private, and governmental clients.
  • Responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection, performing calculations, and working with staff on various projects.
  • Works on office tasks, including LiDAR processing, GPS/Total Station data processing, client deliverables, including reports, maps, quality checking.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions; able to perform complex mathematical computations, including least squares adjustments and data analysis.
  • Performs physically demanding work in all types of weather and terrain.
  • Knowledgeable of and/or experienced in the following: Traffic control and safety procedures for a variety of surveying and construction operations.
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans.
  • Developing grade sheets or staking files/CAD models to support construction projects.
  • Principles of surveying and construction layout.
  • Maintains professionalism on the job (e.g. attire, honesty, and respect for personal property).
  • Must be able to travel locally and nationally based on project demands, with approximately 30% travel.
  • Per diem and lodging is provided for all travel assignments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying or related field.
  • Experience working on MDOT projects not required, but favorable.
  • 5+ years of experience in surveying.
  • Licensed professional surveyor or ability to become licensed per new licensing guidelines.
